Fall is a great time to take a vacation if you don’t have kids in school. As families with school age kids are settling back into a routine, now is a wonderful time to leave your routine behind. Some of the best deals are for those that are flexible with destinations and travel times.
This is a great time of year to visit the Colorado Rockies. Having just returned from a fishing trip, I can testify that the fishing is great and the scenery is even better. While Frontier Airlines just finished their discounted airfare to Colorado, reasonable tickets are still available across the market.
Fall is also an excellent time to visit Hawaii. The hotel rates remain good until after Thanksgiving, and historically there are discounts on airfare during this time. There may not be much advanced notice on some of the tickets, but that is where being flexible can really make a difference.
The Hawaiian beaches are less crowed in the fall and the weather is great. The trade winds do drop in September and that can be a bit disappointing, but only for a moment or two. The ocean still feels so good on those hot days and the waves are fairly calm. The tours are less crowded as are the favorite tourist attractions with the exception of Pearl Harbor the first week of December.
Fall is a wonderful time to visit the east coast to see the fall foliage. Unlike Hawaii, there will be crowds as the brilliant colors won’t last long. You may have to search a bit for discount airfare to this destination, but it will be worth the effort. The fall foliage is absolutely breathtaking.
Any time the kids are in school is a great time to go to Disneyworld.
